About Me
I have been writing for a very long time, but professionally since 1999. When I was ten years old I started writing stories where the main characters were animals. As I grew older, the stories did as well. I stopped writing for a few years and started raising a family. When my oldest son, Nicholas, turned three, I started writing again. Nicholas' dad brought home a huge beetle he had found in the parking lot at his work. Nicholas loved it. He played with it, took care of it, and set it free one day. Hearing his loving conversations with this beetle made me think ... so I jotted it down. Many years later, it became my first published children's chapter book - "Beetle Bug Adventures: The Castle". This book was published by a company that is no longer in business (Wordbeams Publishing) in January of 2000. I have since reworked this book and am looking to republish it. Currently there are two full chapter books featuring the two adorable main characters Poppy and Hue with outlines to write several more in the series.
I worked on children's books after that, writing several that came to be published with Writer's Exchange EPublishing. When a fellow writer friend asked me to co-write a book about gargoyles, I said yes. So... That's how we came up with "Gargoyle Tears". This book was published with Tarbutton Press in June of 2002. It isn't perfect, but it's a start to the print world of publishing. While on a business trip to Houston, I started writing my first by-myself novel - "Notes on the Windowsill". This book was published by Zumaya Publishing in September of 2002.
The second book in this genre, INHERITANCE: Craven Ghost Mysteries, follows the life of Rue Luclia, a successful thirty-something family estate heiress with the world’s best friend, Rue also tackles the dating world to find the one - all while internally battling the “gift”- an ability to communicate with the afterlife. As a channeler, the spirits in the house start sending her clues to help her solve their 100-year-old murder, where she was forced to look at herself - as well as look at members of her own family. As the first in a duology, this novel is currently looking for a home.
BIRTHRIGHT: Craven Ghost Mysteries, is the second novel and continues the journey of Jack and Rue Craven’s adventure with Ember Craven, a ghost hunter with a long female-line of channelers and the first to turn the “gift” into a career.
Heinemann Library’s Uniquely Maryland, was published in February of 2004 and was my first contracted book. This state-studies, children’s book was fun and inspiring to write. I am the mother of three grown children, three funny pugs, Briggs, Stella and Stratton, and a loving tuxedo cat named Orchid, with the love of my life - Thom in Western Maryland.
